Margret Treuer
Homelessness Program Officer
Margret believes listening to young people with lived experiences of homelessness is how we can bring about system change and a brighter future for everyone.

Margret began her position with the Northwest Minnesota Foundation in 2021. Her role as Program Officer includes supporting the region’s Youth Action Board and the Racial Equity Accountability Project, which seek to engage young adults with lived experience of homelessness into the decision-making process. Margret’s experience in engaging youth and young adults is rooted in her desire to effect change for the systems by which young adults are directly served. Margret holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental education and biology from Hamline University. Margret has worked in the field of education and youth development for over eight years.
Cory Boushee
Housing and Homelessness Senior Program Manager
Cory is a visionary who knows how to make a plan come to life. And lucky for us all, his efforts are focused on making life better for the people who call Northwest Minnesota home.

In Cory’s current role at the Northwest Minnesota Foundation he leads our efforts toward increasing housing unit development across the region. Prior to joining NMF, Cory spent three years with the City of Bemidji planning office. Additional past experience includes construction and engineering in a diverse number of sectors, including energy development, community development, aviation planning, environmental planning, and project cost feasibility analysis. Cory holds a bachelor’s degree in geography with an emphasis in land use planning and geographic information systems from Bemidji State University.
Barbara Johnson
Homelessness Program Officer
As an advocate, organizer, and knowledgeable resource, Barbara works every day to help youth and families move toward self-sufficiency and pathways out of homelessness.

Barbara began her role as Northwest Continuum of Care Coordinator in 2022. Barbara’s role focuses on supporting the NWCoC board of directors and its convening subcommittees. Barbara also works to support the annual process for submitting the regional application needed to access HUD funded housing programs. As the NWCoC Coordinator, Barbara’s passion is rooted in the belief that housing is a human right. Barbara’s background is in human services with a bachelor’s degree in human services with a focus on youth and Family services and a master’s degree in human services with a focus on policy and organizational services. Barbara has over ten years’ experience administering self-sufficiency programing and case management.
Megan Chavez
Priority List Manager
With a belief that everyone deserves a place to call home, Megan compassionately serves her community and the people she considers to be her neighbors.

Megan’s current role as the Priority List Manager focuses on managing the homeless response system used to prioritize services to the most vulnerable. Megan works with local communities to prioritize those experiencing homelessness or those at risk of experiencing homelessness in the Northwest Region of Minnesota. It is with the belief and experience gained working within the region that all conversations, ideas, and action steps stem from the notion that everybody should have a home. Megan was born and raised in the community in which she serves. Megan is certified as a community health worker with a background in health and human services and the judicial system.
